Guatemala City.- Fernando Paiz, President of the Organizing Committee of the 4th Edition of the Magdalena Endurance Challenge on 24-25th of April 2010, is also in charge of the organization of the International FEI Endurance Course for Judges and Vet's to be held in Guatemala on the 22 and 23rd of April 2010. He informs that this is an excellent opportunity for judges and veterinarians of the Central American region to assist and acquire credits as qualified judges and veterinarians according to FEI standards.

Currently there are very few FEI qualified judges and Vets authorized to be directors of FEI Courses. mascaballos-9Short Bio - Ruth Carlson

My journey in the sport of endurance began in 1977, when I was on the OC of one of the first endurance events in western Canada. I continued in that role together with my husband for ten more years. However, after only two years, I became a competitor as well, and went on to accumulate over 7000 endurance miles over the next 20 years. I was fortunate enough to compete in North American and World Championships from 1986 through 1995, and was a member of the Canadian Silver Medal Team at the 1988 World Championships in Front Royal, Virginia. In addition to that, I have worked on the support crew of the Canadian Endurance Team at several World Championship events. I became an FEI Official in 1988, and progressed through the process to become a 4* "O" Endurance Official and an FEI Course Director in the mid 1990s. So as you can see, I have experience at every level and in every aspect of the sport, and have a passion for the positive growth and international stature of endurance.
In 2009, I was elected Chair of the Endurance Technical Committee. This has given me better opportunities to impact the sport of endurance through the creation of an education system and updated courses, working with the FEI and the Committee in re-writing the Endurance Rule Book following the World Endurance Forum in Paris, with a view to addressing horse welfare issues.
I am a retired bank manager, living on a small acreage in the south-east corner of British Columbia. I am fortunate in having my children and grandchildren as neighbors, and enjoy recreational riding and all the other outdoor activities that come with the country life.
